Ya’at’eeh or Welcome…

Traveling throughout the summer is a family tradition and this year, the NAECC is launching our first summer travel blog. We will feature travel experiences and journeys of Purdue Native American students, faculty and staff who on research, recruitment, and field course trips across the U.S. and the world.

As for me, I have the privilege of traveling on a summer geology field course with a group of students from Purdue University and Fort Lewis College (located in Durango, Colorado). Our two-week adventure to North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana and Utah gives us a rare opporutnity to visit Native American tribal nations where we will examine environmental issues that are impacting tribal communities. During our trip, we’ll update our blog and post pictures on the many communities we’ll visit, the many people we meet and undoubtedly the many “shenanigans” we’ll encounter on this journey. I hope you’ll enjoy our adventure and learn something along the way.
